matthew 18:
Count of Monte Cristo - never thought, "he should forgive those people"
matt 18:21 - parable of the unforgiving debtor
how many times should i forgive someone? 70x7
justice is God's job: forgiving someone acknowleges that it's not my business.
What if my first response was compassion? What if my goal was to restore every one of my relationships?
18:32 - "you evil servant...shouldn't you have mercy on your fellow servant?"
I've been forgiven incredible wrongs in my life, and i need to forgive in kind.
This week at the Schweitzer chapel, there was a record crowd. Many Cedar Hillians who had been skiing or snowboarding during the day decided to stay on the mountain and worship with the crowd at the Schweitzer chapel.
It's a fun vibe in the chapel. We've stripped the gathering down to its barest minimum in order to embrace the value of simplicity and allow us to focus on what's important - relationships with God and each other.
So, if you're around the mountain, or just curious, stop by the Schweitzer chapel at 5:30 pm on Saturday night and hang out with a group of people who are trying to live more similarly to that way Jesus did. We're doing our best to yeild the fruits of God's spirit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control.
